Niedźwiedź polarny – gatunek dużego ssaka drapieżnego z rodziny niedźwiedziowatych, zamieszkującego Arktykę. Jest drapieżnikiem szczytowym w zasięgu swojego występowania. Grube futro i warstwa tłuszczu chronią go przed zimnem. Półprzezroczysta sierść ma zazwyczaj kolor biały lub kremowy, przez co umożliwia zwierzęciu dobry kamuflaż. Skóra jest w rzeczywistości czarna. Niedźwiedź polarny ma krótki ogon i małe uszy, co pomaga mu redukować utratę ciepła. Stosunkowo mała głowa i długie, zwężające się ku tyłowi ciało nadają mu opływowy kształt przydatny do pływania. Jest ssakiem niemal morskim potrzebującym do przetrwania jedynie kawałka pływającego lodu i żywności znajdowanej w wodzie. Przystosował się do życia na lądzie, morzu i lodzie.

Thick fur and layer of fat to protect him from the cold. Translucent hair color is usually white or cream, which allows the animal a good camouflage. The skin is actually black. Polar bear has a short tail and small ears, which helps it to reduce heat loss. A relatively small head and long, tapering towards the rear give it a body streamlined shape suitable for swimming. It is almost the marine mammal in need to survive only a piece of floating ice and food found in the water. Has adapted to life on land, sea and ice.
